Greg Ferris Announces Campaign for Sedgwick County Commission – District 3

Former City Council Member Greg Ferris of Wichita, KS, announces that he is running for the Sedgwick County Commission in District 3, which covers west Wichita, Goddard, Garden Plain, Cheney, Viola, Colwich, Andale, Bentley, Mount Hope, and most of the Western part of Sedgwick County. Ferris served 12 years on the Wichita City Council. After his term expired, he started a consulting firm in 1999.

The District 3 incumbent commissioner is not running for reelection.

“I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Republican nomination for Sedgwick County Commission in District 3,” said Ferris. “Common sense leadership with a commitment to reduced property tax growth through efficient county spending is a major focus. I can use my 25 years of helping national, regional, and local companies resolve issues before local and state government agencies to solve problems and seek solutions. For example, the portion of Kellogg west of Maize Road has been neglected. Working with the City of Wichita and the State to extend the Kellogg freeway is a high priority.”

While on the City Council, Ferris supported the development of the Auburn Hills Golf Course, Kellog interchanges at Tyler and Maize Roads, and land acquisition for the Northwest Bypass. Ferris believes West Sedgwick County deserves the Northwest Bypass to move forward soon. During his term on the City Council, General Fund spending grew less than the inflation rate. That experience will carry over to his work on the Sedgwick County Commission.

Greg Ferris and his family have lived in West Wichita for over 36 years. The cornerstones of Greg’s life are Faith, Family, and Accountability. He not only attends church in West Wichita but supports numerous organizations that are faith-based or specialize in services to those less fortunate. During his tenure on the City Council, he was well respected for his attention to detail and understanding of complex issues.

“I think West Sedgwick County needs leadership that comes with the experience of previously being an elected official, along with understanding how government works and what it takes to get things done,” said Ferris. “I look forward to hearing from the District 3 residents and addressing their concerns.”
